Authentic Stories from Diners
The worst restaurant experience we’ve had in all our years in Portugal, truly unbelievable. We waited almost two hours for our order, and despite asking three separate times, the food for our kids never arrived at all. The dishes that did show up were cold, poorly prepared, and honestly felt like an afterthought. The service was not just slow, it was completely indifferent. No apology, no explanation, nothing and they even tried to make us pay part of the food that didn’t come. To make matters worse, the kitchen equipment is in terrible condition. They’re using non-stick pans that are visibly ruined and peeling, which is not only unprofessional but also raises serious concerns about food safety.
We were wandering through the high part of Nazaré, after spending some time in the breeze on the praia just before, when we saw this little place. The service is incredibly friendly. They serve real tasty Portuguese food. We had some salad, some sardinhas (sardines), some frango (fried chicken), and some ovos mexidos com cogumelos (scrambled eggs with mushrooms) -the last one was made veggie for me. I also had the delicious goat cheese in filo pastry starter. We had a great time. Thank you Zé d’Avó.
Amazing and welcoming people, great food! Special thanks for our almost-midnight take away deserts - tiramisu and cheesecake were divine. Greetings from four happy latvians, we will come back!
The food is delicious! Every dish is excellent. Friendly staff, everything was fresh and very tasty. In the photo — lamb, the Sunday special.
Just returned from dinner at this absolute gem of a place. Wow, from a warm welcome as we walked in to attentive service and outstanding food, we cannot recommend this little place highly enough. A must-visit when you come to Nazaré!
